Who We Are
Que Ondee Sola (QOS) was established in 1972 and remains the oldest Puerto Rican and Latine university student publication in the United States. Que Ondee Sola means “May it wave alone”, referring to waving the Puerto Rican flag alone. Due to Puerto Rico’s colonial status, there was a period of history in which a gag law was enforced, punishing Puertorriqueños for showing pride in their culture. Thus, the simple act of waving a Puerto Rican flag by itself was punishable under the law. We strive to represent the voices of a nation silenced for centuries, by covering social issues and topics directly and indirectly related to the Puerto Rican cause. Via mediums such as journalism, art, and creative work.
