The Stoney faced and
thick-skinned,

You were told to be tough. Not to show weakness to others and definitely not yourself. You’d rather cut your tongue out then to kneel and expose your heart. You learned this through day after day of disappointment but no one has taught you that there’s strength in showing your fears and weakness in acting out in anger. It’s not weak when you show your emotions and share your pain. Opening up and recognizing your feelings is a powerful thing. I’d proudly show you the streaks of tears down my cheeks and I won’t wipe a single one if it will teach you to show compassion to yourself.
